Let’s get straight away into the nitty-gritty of this article.
Before I begin showing you the exact steps, I’d like to tell you the methods that I’m about to show you doesn’t require any technical skills beforehand. Just follow along with me, and you’ll be good to go.
How to Move Origin Games to Another Drive?
Method 1: Move The Game To A New Folder
Step 1: Before you even begin, first off find your origin games default folder where the games files are located. The default location will look similar to this one: C:\Program Files\Origin Games.
Step 2: Once you’re in the default folder, you’ll now see individual subfolders which are named with the actual game. E.g., Fallout 4 or CSGO. Copy the folders and paste it on your desktop (or at a place where you can find it easily later.)
Step 3: Once all the files are copied on your desktop it’s time to delete the original Origin folder. After that, delete the Origin application. If it asks whether or not you want to keep the Origin settings click on “No.”
Step 4: After the whole process is completed the next step is to reinstall Origin application and this time make sure you select the desired folder where you want to save all your games.
Step 5: Start downloading all the games that you just back up on your desktop a while back. Don’t worry; you don’t need to download the games all over again. The whole purpose here is to create the folder by downloading 0.05%.
Step 6: Once that’s done, copy the game data that you have stored on your desktop and paste it in the actual game folder that is created by Origin.
Step 7: While copying you’ll be asked to “Merge Folders” on that click “Yes.” Thereafter, you’ll have a new pop up which ask to “Move & Replace” again click “Yes.”
Step 8: Lastly, open up the Origin application and allow it some time to read the games. Hold on for a moment, and you’ll see that all the games are now ready to be installed. Hit on that “Install” button and boom you’ll have all your origin games moved to another drive.
Method 2: Use Steam Mover to Create Symlinks
This method is fast and more simple than the above one. In this method, we’ll use a third-party software to move the games from one folder to another within the blink of an eye.
Step 1: First off, you need to download Steam Mover.
Step 2: Next up, run the software. (No need to install it’s a direct .exe file. Run it.)
Step 3: Select the folder where all your Origin games are stored. Now select all the subfolders that you want to move to your another hard drive or SSD.
Step 4: Finally, select the destination folder, and in the bottom left corner you’ll see a blue arrow. Click on it. A new command prompt window will open. Allow the process to finish on it’s own.
Step 5: You can now run the Origin app, and all your games will be there already waiting for you in the app to run.
